New Nvidia RTX 4070 price leaks are doing the rounds, and the best graphics card contender might just be $50 cheaper than its beefier Nvidia sibling, the RTX 4070 Ti. The latest rumors also suggest that we’ll get a Founder’s Edition model this time around, along with more expensive custom models.
Price is clearly a big deal right now for Nvidia, so much so that the RTX 4070 could be paired with a cheaper RTX 3060 with GDDR6X VRAM. Taking the latter would naturally break your bank account less, but it would mean missing out on innovative PC gaming features like DLSS 3 and Frame Generation. So, whether we like it or not, Nvidia needs to fill the next-gen midrange void and take a break from the premium GPU part.
Unfortunately, there is reason to believe that the Nvidia RTX 4070 could cost as much as $749.99 as rumors of pricing direction have surfaced. According to YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, experts say the first wave of April 12 cards “may not cost more” than previous ones, but custom cards could cost “at least” $799.99.
If you’re not buying this latest rumored RTX 4070, you’re not alone, as MLID says they’ve actually argued with their sources over the accuracy of the pricing information. However, the lessor says the proof has been provided and the details come from some of its best sources.
In other words, there’s a good chance the RTX 4070 will cost $749.99, which means we’ll have to wait even longer for a good mid-range GPU. Naturally, Nvidia has yet to confirm an official MSRP, so we’d recommend keeping the usual grain of salt close by. It’s still a worrying sign of things to come, though, and it potentially means the Lovelace card won’t come close to the $499 price tag of its RTX 3070 predecessor.
Not interested in waiting for the potential Nvidia RTX 4070 release date in April to find out? You can cut to the chase and choose the GPU featured in our Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti review. It has more power than the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, and while it’s still expensive, it’s a lot cheaper than the RTX 4080.
Of course, none of the above is what we’d call mid-range, especially price-wise. If the 4070 launches with a $750 ticket, PC gamers will have to opt for something like the RTX 4060, assuming the desktop card is coming soon.
