Once repaved, the street will include various traffic calming treatments and public space improvements, including:
- Spaces between Calle 25 and Calle 26 and between Calle 26 and Calle 27.
- Curb extensions and tighter curves to calm traffic.
- Shorter crossings and wider crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety.
- Two-way treatments of cycle paths, as well as related signage and signals.
- Curb lanes reconfigured for easier loading and pick-up/drop-off.
- Additional public space and facilities for cyclists such as seats, planters, new Citi bicycle docks and additional bicycle parking.
- In partnership with the Flatiron NoMad Partnership, the city will allow outdoor dining at restaurants in plazas between 25th Street and 27th Street.
- Milling and paving work will take place over the next few months with signage work, installation of signage and signage, as well as the addition of planters and street furniture. The project is expected to be completed this summer, followed by capital improvements.
