Cuban singer and songwriter Lenier Mesa spoke about the difficult times he experienced when he emigrated from Cuba to Miami, in the program Encuentro Virtual con Gloria Ordaz, on Telemundo 51.
“I had a lot of work…I lived in a car for about 15 days,” he recalled of his arrival in the United States.
“I started working for a company that did removals in Hialeah. I started working these 15 days and took the first charge for efficiency and there I went to live alone. In the other collection, I bought a cart to move around and just like that, I was moving forward,” he said.
“I have always written. I went to country music venues to earn my money on weekends away from work,” he said.
Lenier has gained space in the music world. His song “Mala” with Marc Anthony won a Latin Grammy and another for Best Salsa Album.
The artist also highlighted how his life changed when he met his wife, who he has been with for 14 years.
“Success starts at home,” he said.
