The dept. The Boynton Beach Police Department decided to release this video so the community can see how dangerous a simple traffic stop can become.
Boynton Beach police released the video where, on February 27, a man is seen committing a traffic violation. The driver was traveling west in the eastbound lanes.
It happened near Woolbright Rd and Congress Ave.
The video shows how the officer stops the vehicle and approaches to ask for his papers. During his interrogation, he is informed by the police station that the suspect named Muhannad Ibrahim, 33, is the subject of an arrest warrant issued for a domestic assault which occurred the day before.
The body camera shows the moment the officer tries to stop the suspect by asking him to get out of the vehicle. We see that there is a struggle and the video shows how the man has a gun in his hand, which was hidden in his waist.
During the fight, we see how Ibrahim falls to the ground still with the weapon in his hand.
Police said during the scuffle, the suspect pointed his gun to his chin and fired.
The Boynton Beach Police Department said, “The Boynton Beach Police Department is releasing this video to educate viewers about the inherent dangers facing law enforcement officers where nothing is routine or typical. “
According to the police report, Ibrahim faces charges of possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and improper display of a firearm.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in critical but stable condition. Fortunately, neither of the two police officers was injured in this incident.
