Angélica arrived home surprised by the smoke and the firefighters. The flames were coming from the neighboring property, but it hit him pretty hard in his pocket.
What has suffered the most is the truck which is the livelihood of his life.
“It’s the ice cream truck that I sell everywhere in the streets”, explains Angélica.
Today, he looks to the future and sees no way to recover from such damage. His desperation is palpable.
“Everything is destroyed until today I couldn’t, everything burned.”
It all happened at the nearby business located on 94th Street and 17th Avenue northwest of Miami-Dade.
The fire took more toll on him, in addition to the ice cream cart.
“Some of my clothes, some papers, the spoiled bed”.
Yet, she says, she focuses on the positive.
“Even though it smells of smoke, I was able to sleep there.”
More than 15 firefighters responded to put out the fire. Two people were transported by ambulance to a hospital.
The cause of the disaster is under investigation.
