From the bed of one of the rooms at the Hospital de Aventura, Luis Fernández, 26, says that on Tuesday evening he went to eat tacos with his friends.
It was Tuesday, February 21. He was riding his motorcycle eastbound on the house on Palmetto Express Way when at 10:57 p.m., something unexpected happened.
“A vehicle ran over me from behind, hit me and left me lying on the highway,” says Fernández.
He says he doesn’t remember anything. He only knows that whoever hit him was in a black Tesla vehicle. Or at least that’s what a witness believes.
“The other drivers stopped, they called the police, the ambulance. They are the ones who picked me up. It hurts too much, it hurts to breathe, to try to get up, I can’t walk, my whole body hurts, especially my back.”
And it is impossible not to feel pain. Luis has a fractured spine, collarbone and multiple ribs.
“I don’t know if I was drunk or I don’t know what the Tesla’s reason was, just because I was careless or I don’t know, he hit me, and although I was alive, he could have ended my life.”
For information to find the culprit of this accident, the authorities of Miami Dade offer a reward of five thousand dollars.
“What I want is, please, if anyone knows anything or has seen anything, please report it.”
Luis is currently the one financially supporting his wife and daughter. He fears not knowing when he will be able to return to work and whether he will ever fully recover from this painful accident that ended his life.
“It’s not fair, I was on my way home to see my wife and my daughter who is six months old.”
Due to the area of the fractures, this biker could not be operated on. If you have information about the driver who hit you and fled the scene, you can contact the hotline at 305-471-8477.
