Both from the sky and from the ground, firefighters from different parts of the national territory fought the forest fires. According to the latest report published by the National Fire Management Service (SNMF), at least four provinces had to fight the flames: Corrientes, Between Ríos, Río Negro and La Pampa.

One of the most affected territories to date is Corrientes, which is suffering the consequences of the drought. As detailed by SNMFDespite the efforts, the centers were still active in the towns of Ituzaingo (San Gara and La Negra area) and St. Miguel (Carambola / Santa Julia).

In this regard, after touring the affected territory, Jorge Heider, National Director of SNMF, said: “In Corrientes I could see a more integrated work, a lot of resources and order in the tasks. During this time, the fires will continue because the drought situation is very important and it will be difficult to reverse; the La Niña phenomenon has extended too long and El Niño will have a greater opportunity from April. It’s a complex situation, but it’s not close to what happened in 2022.
