The bone forfeitures of cocaine in Mexico increase more than half in 2022 compared to 2021, that’s an increase of 176%. Over the past year, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) and the Secretary of Marina confiscated 41.8 tons of cocaine, while in 2021 a total of 15.1 tons were seized.

The possible causes of the increase were exposed by the portal specializing in drug trafficking InsightCrimewho carried out an analysis in which he details that Mexico is the main transit country which recorded a significant increase in seizures of the illicit substance. According to the foundation, the increase is due to at least two reasons.
