Line 1 has been under renovation since June 2022 (CUARTOSCURO)

The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced the possible opening of 12 stations of Metro Line 1 capital at the end of February. The state president, at a press conference on February 20, announced the progress of the remodeling of the also well-known pink line, but she did not specify an exact date for its reopening.

Remember that a good part of the section of Line 1 has been under renovation since the past June 2022, in order to ensure the maintenance of twelve stations that belong to one of the busiest routes of the public transport system (STC) of the CDMX metro, according to the data of said transport.

The mobility authorities, as well as the direction of the metro, have pointed out that among the arrangements made for the line that goes from the Observatorio to Pantitlán, the maintenance and wagon renovationthe repair and cleaning of tracks and stations, the strengthening of the signaling and telecommunications system, as well as the installation of lifts for the disabled.

The head of the capital has repeatedly informed about the work carried out in the facilities of the 12 seasonswhere the relevant quality control reviews will also be carried out to avoid any kind of inconvenience, especially after the tragic accident recorded last January in the line 3 where an 18-year-old girl died.

“As every Saturday, starting early, we are carrying out a supervision visit of the modernization works of the New Line 1 of the Metro CDMX. Today we were at Balbuena station. we invest 37 million mdp leave a whole new line, ”said the president of the capital on her official Twitter account.

The stations that will reopen will be:

– Pantitlan.

-Zaragoza.

– Gomez Farias.

-Puerto Aéreo Boulevard.

– Balbuena.

-Moctezuma

-Saint Lazare.

-Candelaria.

– Merced.

-Pin Suarez

-Isabelle the Catholic

-River

On the other hand, to continue the same process of remodeling the stations of the same Line, the routes that correspond to:

-Balderas

-Cuauhtemoc

-Insurgents

-Seville

-Chapultepec

-Juanacatlan

-Tacubaya

-Observatory

The authorities of the capital have indicated that with the closure of these stations, alternative transport routes will be made available in order to offer more options to users.

Line 12 stations still closed

Last January it was reopened line 12 or also known as the Metro’s Gold Line, almost over a year and a half after the tragic accident at Olivos station on the elevated section. Along with the directors of the STC and the Ministry of Mobility, the Head of Government presided over the opening, where she highlighted the efforts of the workers who maintained and reinforced certain stations.

The line that goes from the Mixcoac terminal to Tláhuac, began to serve the public from the past January 15; however, only 9 of them have been renewed:

-Insurgents On

-November 20 Hospital

-Zapata

-Deer park

-Center axis

-Hermitage

-Mexicaltzingo

– Atlalilco

On the other hand, the authorities of the capital did not indicate the exact date on which the stations corresponding to the elevated section of the Gold Line, which goes from Culhuacán to the terminal of Tláhuac, will be reopened because they are still under renovation and maintenance. However, Claudia Sheinbaum and the director of the metro, Guillermo Calderón, indicated that the relevant arrangements are being made so that, as far as possible, this route is fully reopened before the end of the year.
