Ernesto Pérez Astorga, senator of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) who initiated the discussion of the initiative in the Senate, designated the Heroic Military Corps as a historical institution without which various historical facts and the social structure of the country could not be understood.

“The Heroic Military College brings to our country mainly Mexicans and Mexicans with a deep sense of service and love for the country, ready to give life if necessary to ensure the maintenance and the future of future generations”

Among the events in which the cadets belonging to this institution participated were the battle of September 13, 1847 and the so-called Loyalty March (1913) in which they accompanied Francisco I. Madero. They also played an important role in the Reform War (1859) and Agua Prieta Rebellion (1920).

That is why, on December 29, 1949Miguel Alemán Valdez, then President of Mexico, whereIt was agreed that the word “heroic” should be placed before the name of the Military College.

On the other hand, the legislator welcomed the the training offered by this institution, which he assured goes beyond the army. He particularly highlighted the preparation in medicine and aeronautics, which he mentioned that they put at the service of Mexicans even after their retirement from military service.

In this sense, he argued that “in an unjustified way, we only attend and weigh their contributions in arms”, so this piece will be a tribute to the integral contribution of the Heroic Military College to Mexican society and not exclusively in the domain of the militia.

After its approval in the Senate, the initiative will return to the Chamber of Deputies. La Sedena will have 30 days after the publication of the decree in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) to send the design proposal to the Bank of Mexico and it can be minted 30 days after approval of its characteristics by Banxico.
