By Supreme Decree, the government of Peru announced to the public the relationship of days off which must be respected in 2023. These dates, which have been scheduled over the course of 12 months, aim to work stoppage and the practice of internal tourism.

To understand this figure of rest, which does not have the same concept as a vacationwe have to understand that if we take a public holidaythe hours not worked must be compensated within ten days immediately following or on the date agreed with the employer.

The government of the time informed the population of the list of non-working days for the year 2023. These are in addition to public holidays for Civic dates which are already marked on the calendar. Although this is a direct benefit for public sector workers, the private sector can also benefit from these provisions.

In the case of the year 2024, for the moment it is announced that the first non-working day of the year it will be January 2, which joins the holiday of the first of the mentioned month. Thus, and where appropriate, a long leave could be created so that workers can rest or do domestic tourism.

In the case of the private sector, it is established that each work center can benefit from the provisions of the Peruvian government, provided that a agreement between worker and employer. Both must reach the same conditions with regard to the recovery of interrupted hours.

If an agreement is not reached, the employer has the power to decide which day and in which month this day not worked must be returned.
