In the midst of a debate on how to dismantle drug cartels, the United States ambassador to Mexico acknowledged on Tuesday that the fight against fentanyl and arms trafficking starts from his country.

Through a statement, he stressed that both issues are a priority for the government of Joe Biden and that the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is a crucial partner.

“Our governments have reaffirmed their commitment to work together for our common security, in particular to unite their efforts against the illegal trafficking of fentanyl and weapons for the damage they represent for the well-being of our nations”, indicates the document.

“We have started the fight against the illegal trafficking of fentanyl and weapons at home”
