‘We are upset’: Debanhi Escobar’s parents demanded that FGR inform them of new motel procedure

The parents of Debanhi Escobarthe young woman of New Leo who was the victim of femicide in April 2022, made her outrage known through a video on her YouTube channel. The couple said they were upset because the authorities in charge of their daughter’s case, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), did not update them on developments.

In this sense, Mr. Mario Escobar revealed that on February 22 they learned that the staff of the Special Prosecutor for Crimes of Violence against Women and Human Trafficking (FEVIMTRA), and did some work experts inside the tanks located in the New Castile Motel.

“We don’t know what they found, they didn’t say anything, they were very thorough. It should be noted that we were not informed by these authorities, denying us the right to attend the expertise they carried out inside the motel, inside the cisterns.”

Debanhi’s father pointed out that the prosecutor’s office is the one in charge of the investigation file and that this would be the second time they are going to collect evidence in the 5 months that they have been working on the case. Mario Escobar said he learned of the arrival of the prosecutor’s staff from people who know and pass through the property. Since then, they have only visited the site once a week to lay candles and flowers in memory of their deceased daughter.

Debanhi Escobar’s mother Dolores Bazaldua, reiterated that in the meeting that took place in Mexico City, an agreement was reached and the request was made in writing that they would be informed of all the procedures that were carried out in the state of Nuevo León. “From what we saw on the 22nd here in Nuevo León, agreements are not respected”.

“We continue to believe in the federal authorities because, somehow, without them, we would not be here in this case. It’s already been 10 months and we want to clarify Debanhi’s femicide. We want to find the alleged culprits. We are tired but we continue with a lot of spirit, with a lot of strength “

On the 21st they were accomplished 10 months since Debanhi was found dead and their parents, seeing no progress and not having been taken into account in the tests carried out recently for the investigations, have pleaded with the authorities to take them into account. “It’s a right that we have as citizens, that we have as indirect victims,” ​​said Mario Escobar.

“In a way, we feel that if they do their job after 5 months that they bring the file back. We want to find what must be found and whoever must fall falls. And indicate who should be reported. We know there are a lot of people behind this. We don’t know what they are hiding but we will act until the last consequences”

Precisely on Wednesday, February 22, a mass was celebrated in memory of the young woman, in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León. During this event, Debanhi’s father, Mario Escobar regretted that his daughter still could not rest in peace. He added that the spirit of his daughter had manifested itself to him and his wife, Dolores Bazaldúa, which is why consider it a way of demanding justice from Debanhi. “That means maybe she still doesn’t have that peace.” So yes we need to solve the case so she can rest in peace and we are in mourning.”, detailed the father of the victim.
