Neighbors of Villa la Angosturalined up in a group they called “Angostura Community”, they will march this Friday afternoon to demand from the local and provincial authorities the continuity of the execution works of the Circunvalación road, which are paralyzed by protests led by a Mapuche community.
There mobilization will take place this Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the call is at the point of contention, where members of the Paisil Antriao community block the work of road machinery, to force National Institute of Indigenous Affairs (INAI) advance with the territorial survey of the original peoples.
A few days ago, the same group met with the community authorities to find out what actions were being taken to decompress the conflict and guarantee the continuity stain.
However, after this meeting, the group’s spokespersons criticized the “inaction” of the local municipality which, according to him, “approves the behavior of those who act outside the law”.

They also denounced the fact that the local executive “does not exercise any control over the businesses and stores operated by the Mapuche community, so it is obvious that there is collusion with its members, which it hurts everyone as a society.”
The call is promoted via social networks. Neighbours, in dialogue with GlobeLiveMediasaid that “the municipality cannot stand idly by and not act, while the works remain paralyzed by a few families that make up the Mapuche community, who oppose the progress of the works”.
“we need that the State establishes a clear position on the community of Paisil Antriao, we request that the execution of the works progress, the realization of which will allow the decompression of heavy truck traffic through the center of the tourist village,” they said.
Furthermore, they added that “the government is responding to interests of minority groups who appropriate what is public and what belongs to others, outside the law”.

This conflict had already been resolved during the expropriation of several properties occupied by the same community, although these – according to the denounced inhabitants – had been occupied again by supposed referents of the ancestral peoples.

Spokespersons for the indigenous group blamed the Henna and the government of Neuquén for the measurement of force and demanded the end of the territorial investigation of the community, of which “the only thing missing is the delivery of documentation”.

“We are tired of this endless waiting situation with our technical dossier, which should by now have been delivered with prior review and approval by our community,” they remarked.
The blocked work has an extension of 6 kilometers and its construction aims to decongest the center of Villa la Angostura, mainly trucks that cross to and from Chile.
Construction of the structure began in 2017 and at that time there were only 7 families residing in a place that would be crossed by the road, although the inhabitants of Villa la Angostura assure that “they settled in the place when they discovered that the road would pass by this place, to generate a conflict and to try to be compensated by the State”.
