Things you need to build first in Sons of the Forest
Refuge
This is the first thing every gamer should build as it can help you save your game and sleep. There is no other way to save your game, so build the shelter before exploring the island. You only need a trap and two sticks to build it.
animal trap
The next thing you’ll want to focus on is the animal trap. It can help you catch animals so you can cook and eat them to heal your character. In the crafting book you will also see an option to build a fish trap. We recommend building both to maximize your earnings. The animal trap can be made with 16 sticks, while the fish trap can be set up with 26 sticks. If you have trouble picking up sticks off the ground, use your ax to chop down small trees.
Torch
As you explore the forest, you will enter several caves. These caves are quite dark and visibility inside is poor. For this you need to build a torch. This can be done using a single piece of stick and fabric. Once done, equip the torch, press the “L” key to fire the igniter, then hold the same key again to ignite the torch. You can then explore the caves with ease.
Bow and arrows
Since there is danger in every corner of the forest, you must carry a weapon. Also, you can’t rely solely on animal traps for food, so you’ll have to go deeper into the forest to hunt. Luckily, the game lets you craft a bow. To make one, you need a stick, a rag, and some string. As for the arrows, you need two feathers, two sticks and four small stones. Keep in mind that the arrows you shoot at your target can be picked up from the ground, so be sure to research them before you leave.
Ball
As you explore, your character will continue to feel thirsty. When this happens, you must visit a river. Since it can be frustrating to visit the river every time your character gets thirsty, you need something to help you carry it. For this, we recommend that you build a Flask. This can be done with the 3D printer and you can refill it every time it is emptied.
