CHICAGO (AP) — The United States Attorney’s Office on Thursday asked a judge to sentence singer R. Kelly to an additional 25 years in prison after he was convicted of child pornography and incitement last year in Chicago, adding to his 30 years. a case in New York.

If the judge grants the prosecution’s request and a government request that Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, serve the sentences consecutively rather than simultaneously, the fallen R&B superstar, 56, could be in jail for up to at that about 100 years old.

In their sentencing recommendation filed by midnight Thursday in U.S. District Court in Chicago, prosecutors called Kelly’s behavior “sadistic” and said he was a shameless “serial sexual predator” who “presents a grave danger to society”.

“The only way to ensure that Kelly does not re-offend is to impose a sentence that will keep him in prison for the rest of his life,” the 37-page government document states.

Kelly’s sentencing hearing in Chicago is scheduled for Thursday of next week.

Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said in a writing last week that even with the New York sentencing, the musician will have to defy all statistical odds to get out of prison alive” and cited data indicating that hope average life of inmates is 64 years.

The lawyer recommended a sentence of around 10 years, at the lower end of the guidelines, which she said could be combined with the sentence she is already serving.

The Chicago decision came months after a federal judge in New York sentenced Kelly to 30 years in prison for extortion and sex trafficking. With this sentence alone, he might not be released until he turns 80.
