Uruguay: A local shopping center catches fire in La Barra

Around noon on Monday there was a fire in one of the Shopping OH!located in the seaside area of The barrierin the department of MaldonadoIn Uruguay.

The Maldonado Fire Department reported that The fire broke out in a children’s play area.and thanks to its rapid response, it did not spread to other companies.

Authorities also reported that no injuries were reported.

“We had a fire start in a children’s play area. Alerted the firefighters of Maldonado, we quickly intervened with a tanker truck and command vans, in order to be able to provide a rapid response,” he said. Sebastien Camejodirector of the Maldonado Fire Department, at the local channel Telemundo.

“The San Carlos firefighters were also transferred, anticipating the worst of the situation, which was not necessary, so the spread within the premises was quickly stopped,” he added.

Camejo assured that “No other premises were affected”and that “persons injured or poisoned by combustion gases” were also not registered.

The director of the Maldonado Fire Department also highlighted the rapid response of the workers in the premises affected: “What is important to highlight is the first response of the workers, who, thanks to the extinguishers and the fire hydrants installed, have tried to give a quick response, calming the temperature, which favored the arrival of firefighters the fire was not in any other type of spread, especially through the ceiling”.

Until the origin of the flames is unknown.

The La Barra area is located a few kilometers from Punta del Este, one of the main tourist centers in these summer times.

Last weekend, the famous parador “La Susana”, from Punta del Este, also suffered a violent fire. Since the structure of the inn was entirely made of wood, the fire progressed rapidly and the destruction was total.
