The Malaga team, made up of representatives of the Port Authority, Malagaport, the Tourism Area of the City Council of the capital, Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning, the Andalusian Regional Government’s Department of Tourism and with the collaboration of Suncruise Andalusia and Malaga Cruise Port, meet with the main North American shipping companies to continue advancing in the reactivation of this cruise segment.

The conference, which takes place from this Tuesday to Friday, will allow creators of international itineraries to be made aware of the opportunity offered by both the port and the destination, not only in the capital, but also in the province and the region as a whole. .

The commercial action, which has already been held in person on previous occasions, will be carried out in a virtual format, so shipping companies based in cities such as Los Angeles or Seattle will be incorporated, along with the traditional ones based in Miami.

In this way, the meetings will show the port and tourist services to managers of companies such as Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Virgin, NCL-Regent-Oceania, Windstar, Carnival, Azamara, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, The World or Holland-Seabourn , among other.

The conference aims not only to increase ship calls in Malaga, but also to influence the decision of companies to choose this destination as a base port (fixed departure and arrival venue for international cruise ships), thus contributing to increasing the impact of this activity in the destination and extend its benefits to other tourism sectors, have specified from the administrations.

This year the capital of the Costa del Sol will host Seatrade Cruise Med, one of the most important meetings of the cruise industry worldwide, an event that will give the segment a significant boost.

This event for the cruise segment will bring together the main shipping companies, tour operators and agents in the sector. The meeting, which was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will finally take place on September 14 and 15 at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in the capital of Malaga (Fycma).

The location, the options offered by the destination to organize complementary activities to the fair, the good air, rail and road connections, as well as the hotel capacity of the capital and the province, were the most outstanding aspects for choosing Malaga as the venue for this remarkable meeting.

Cruise tourism had shown strong growth in previous years and, although they have been affected by the pandemic, in Malaga and Andalusia in general they have high development potential, with the short-term objective of positioning the region as destiny of the first order, they have underlined.
