Madrid, March 9. International designers, firms and stylists have decided to ban skirts and trousers and are committed to giving more visibility to underwear, especially panties and briefs, to create more casual outfits with a rebellious air.

Underwear has ceased to be indoors to become outerwear, as evidenced by the latest fashion shows by Miu Miu, Ferragamo, Dolce&Gabbana, Missoni, Doublet or Mowalola.

Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana showed off the catwalk in a black tuxedo jacket with black culottes and glass stockings underneath, “a risque combination that will surely triumph among the youngest,” the expert told EFE. in fashion communication Pepa Fernández. .

The firm Miu Miu, at the head of Miuccia Prada, joins this trend by combining a turtleneck knit sweater with panties embellished with shiny threads and pearls on a thin and elastic leotard, “a sophisticated version with a luxurious mesh” , Fernandez adds.

For the past few seasons, designers have been using women’s lingerie to update street trends. Outfits created with bras, corsets and nightgowns were transformed into lingerie dresses.

UNDERWEAR, TREND

The fashion for showing underwear has been reinforced with proposals that push transparencies to the limit; One example is the outfit worn by Spanish singer Rosalía at the Women in Music Awards (USA) recently, a sheer piece that revealed high black navel-length panties.

Other proposals allow the triangle of the thong to emerge on low-waisted trousers or a low-cut dress in the back, a trend called ‘whale tail’, which designers such as the Belgian Glenn Martens have brought to some of his creations for the Diesel company.

Now, in this 2023, after having triumphed over transparencies and openings, which exposed underwear, fashion gurus are going even further and putting panties and briefs in the spotlight.

Celebrities such as Bella Hadid, in white briefs combined with a T-shirt, denim jacket and suede ankle boots, and Kylie Jenner, in a white T-shirt and white cotton boxers over black tights, have was among the first to leave. wear underwear that had been exclusively male until then.

But this idea is not just a women’s affair; men also go out in the street in their underwear. Dolce&Gabbana, Givenchy, Emporio Armani and Palomo Spain are exploring the segment of men’s underwear to create sets in which briefs and boxers, classic, loose or buttoned, become more visible.

“My intention has always been to free men from this conventional corset,” says Spanish designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo, soul of Palomo Spain, who is committed to colorful men’s fashion.

With this idea of revival, he was one of the first to wear underwear outside, that is to say, to combine a silk blouse with briefs or briefs with a black tulle shirt .

“Men’s fashion has changed a lot”, he adds, who considers that “there are guys who attract more attention than women with their outfits”.
