Ukraine denied this Wednesday having unrelated to acts of sabotage against Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2 which took place last September.

In a message on his Twitter account, the adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, Mijailo Podoliakfurther denied that kyiv had information about the “pro-Ukrainian groups” those who have been held responsible for these attacks.

“While I enjoy collecting hilarious conspiracy theories about the Ukrainian government, I have to say: Ukraine has nothing to do with the Baltic Sea accident and has no information about “pro-Ukrainian sabotage groups”‘” Volodimir Zelensky’s adviser said.

“What happened to the Nord Stream pipes? “They sank”, as they say in the Russian Federation itself,” added the adviser to the Ukrainian president.

The newspaper The New York Times assured on Tuesday that a pro-Ukrainian group could be behind the acts of sabotage against Russian gas pipelines.

“New intelligence data reviewed by US officials suggests that a pro-Ukrainian group carried out the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines last year,” the newspaper said, noting that according to these officials, there is no evidence that President Zelensky or his closest aides were involved in the operation.

Also came the version via The Washington Postwhich notes that “the United States and Europe did not intercept communications from Russian or Ukrainian officials claiming responsibility for the attack or suggesting that they were trying to cover up their governments’ involvement”, suggesting groups that could have acted alone.

At the time of the sabotage, Moscow accused English-speaking countries” behind, alluding to opposition to the project that Washington has had for years -because it is supposed to generate European dependence on Russian gas-, while some Western countries have pointed in the opposite direction.

The attacks on the gas pipelines, which were not in service, caused two leaks in each of them, two in the Danish zone and two in the Swedish zone, all in international waters.

The three main leaks were sealed in early October, when the pressure was stabilized in the pipes, but the smallest remained active for a few more days.
