INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP) — Stefanos Tsitsipas lost to Australian Jordan Thompson 7-6 (0), 4-6, 7-6 (5) in the second round of the Indian Wells Open on Friday.

The Greek (seeded No. 2) received a bandage on one shoulder, and the disease appeared to affect his backhand shot.

Jordan took advantage and looked for that profile of Tsitsipas, attacking on short shots, to register the second victory of his career against a player ranked among the top 10 in the world.

He represented Australian Open runner-up Tsitsipas in two hours and 37 minutes.

Casper Ruud (3rd) beat Argentinian Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-3. The Norwegian took a 4-1 lead in the first set and won the only break point he faced, with a forehand that bit the line.

Britain’s Cameron Norrie (10th) advanced to the third round with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Taiwan’s Wu Tung-Lin, who came out of the qualifying round.
