There National Customs of Bolivia ireports the discovery of 59 packages containing synthetic drugs and they were hiding in pillows sent to the country from Madrid.

On arrival at the scanner controls, a customs officer “identify those packages that had a somewhat suspicious presentationand that it did not match the description made in the shipping documents, he said.

Given this, the official opened the packages and was able to identify “more specifically, the modus operandi of how he would attempt to enter controlled substances” for the country.

Customs then requested the presence of the Joint Airport Interdiction Task Group (Aircorp) and the Special Force to Combat Drug Trafficking (FELCN), which confirmed through a narcotics analyzer that it was ecstasy and methamphetamine (MDMA), Odian added.

Mollinedo assured that customs have intensified and strengthened controls at entry points to the country through the acquisition of cargo scanners and on flights, in addition to announcing that other body scanners will soon be implemented .

Data recently released by the Vice Ministry of Social Defense and Controlled Substances details that FELCN seized 85.7 tons of drugsbetween marijuana and cocaine, in 1,694 transactions carried out between January 1 and March 6 of this year.

During these operations, 578 people were also apprehended, 6 laboratories and 65 drug manufacturing plants were destroyed and 7 clandestine airstrips were seized, resulting in the seizure of 15 small planes.
