UNITED STATES offered this Monday at United Nations Security Council condemn the firing of missiles by North Koreawarning that the inaction of the international organization in the face of the measures of the Pyongyang regime is “dangerous”.

“The Council’s inaction is worse than shameful. It’s dangerous. Now is the time for the Security Council to work together for a peaceful solution on the Korean Peninsula, before it’s too late,” said U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

In this regard, Thomas-Greenfield stressed that “the Council must speak with one voice” in order to “condemn this growing pattern of reckless provocation.”

“This continuing pattern of gross violations by the DPRK of Council resolutions explicitly prohibiting ballistic missile launches of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) demands a response from this Council,” he reiterated.

The American diplomat criticized that Russia and China previously vetoed measures proposed by countries like the United Statesclaiming that putting more pressure on Pyongyang would not be constructive.

“This failure is not collective. It’s specific. It comes from the two members of this Council with veto power who have repeatedly halted all efforts to provide a meaningful response, blocked our attempts at forceful responses and instead condemned any move by the Council to support their own resolutions as ‘provocative,'” he said.

Still, Thomas-Greenfield opined that “those who shield the DPRK from the consequences of its escalating missile tests are putting the Asian region and the whole world at risk of conflict.” He also warned that North Korean authorities will continue to “defiantly develop and test these weapons.”

The North Korean dictatorship fired a salvo of two short-range ballistic missiles early Monday, the Seoul Army announced, its second launch in two days, after the United States and South Korea conducted joint aerial exercises.
