Picketers spent the night in front of the Ministry of Social Development and threaten to keep the camp until tomorrow (Gustavo Gavotti)

Hundreds of picketers remained during the night of this Monday and the early morning of this Tuesday in front of the Ministry of Social Development and threaten to keep camp on 9 de Julio until tomorrow Wednesday. They ask for a meeting with Victoria Toulouse Peace.

After a long day of mobilizations and street blockades, the referents of the picket unit, Eduardo BelliboniPolo Obrero, and Silvia Saraviade Barrios de Pie-Libres del Sur, decided to set up the tents in the city of Buenos Aires and carry out demonstrations in different parts of the country.

According to what was discussed during the assembly they held late yesterday afternoon, the measure of force will be maintained at least until Wednesday due to Tolosa Paz’s refusal to receive them. “Comrades, we take out the tents and from this moment the picket camp begins throughout the country”urged Saravia in front of the members of the different social and leftist organizations that participate in this demonstration which, during the day, complicated the traffic in several points of the center of Buenos Aires.

For his part, Belliboni again demanded that the minister open to receive them “because she has done very serious things” and that they seek to “discuss and put on the table the social problems that exist in Argentina”.

“It’s outrageous that there’s no food in the popular mangers, that Quom’s or Wichi’s companions have had their social plans taken away in the Impenetrable. So let’s get the pots out, start the meal, let’s go at the picket camp!”, he harangued.

A few hours earlier, Tolosa Paz had questioned the demonstration that had taken place around the national body, alluding directly to the leaders of the Piquetera Unit. “Make a big queue on July 9 and we will validate the data to the beneficiaries of the Improve work, one by one,” the head of the national executive branch said in statements on the radio. Tolosa Paz was referring to one of the axes of discontent in the ranks of the social movements: the loss of thousands of beneficiaries of the Potenciar Trabajo program, which pays the unemployed a percentage of the Minimum, Living and Mobile Wage.

The argument of the government of Alberto Fernández to advance in the measure was that it had not been possible to verify the existence of the people who collect the benefit and added a veiled interpellation to the social movements for their lack of transparency. This further strained relations between protesters and the executive branch.

“We find Tolosa Paz’s words disrespectful, saying that we are taking people to the door of the ministry. When it is the state that must go to the neighborhoods. And that’s a bad precedent for what we demand, which is that they receive us and listen to our demands,” Belliboni said.

And he completed: “Because it is not only the cancellation of the plans, but also the horrible low protein food they order. Like for example the popcorn and the polenta they send”.

While Saravia ruled that “we are worse than when they took over, and aid is getting worse every day because of inflation. In a dialogue with the Crónica channel, the piquetero leader accused the government of “wanting many people to live on social plans because instead of creating real work, they have created social plans. they did it for their own incapacity, for business or to favor certain sectors, such as finance,” he said.

The Piquetero Unit claims: real work, without precariousness and under agreement; unemployment insurance for all families who need it; the universalization of social plans; help with soup kitchens; delivery of committed tools for community development; and an increase in the Potenciar Trabajo program and a reversal with losses.

If the piqueteros referents do not receive a favorable response from the government, they will keep the camp until tomorrow, so another day of vehicular chaos is to be expected. In this regard, the Chief of Staff of the City of Buenos Aires, Philip Michael, said they would continue to work “to free the Metrobús”, but warned of the difficulty of doing so with the security forces due to the presence of children. “These are situations of tension, friction, women, boys, heat, instability. When you ask to delete them, you should be aware. Do they ask that we throw gasoline with the women and children who are there? “, remarked the responsible of Buenos Aires.

During an interview in TN, Miguel aseguró que entiende “a los vecinos de la zona” y comparte “ese enojo que genera a cualquiera de los que están volviendo del trabajo hacia su casa y deben de estar pensando que con sus impuestos les están pagando a these people”.
