Sword Art Online, the Movie — Progressive — Deep Dark Scherzo It will hit theaters in Latin America, as announced by Crunchyroll and Aniplex of America. The animated film, which will be available in its original Japanese language with Spanish subtitles and Latin dub, is a sequel to Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night (2021).

An unforgettable anime and the “Progressive” saga

Sword Art Online is a light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and its plot revolves around Kirito. This young video game fan becomes a valiant warrior when he finds himself trapped in a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) game with thousands of other people. Its first volume was published in 2009 and to date has sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

The literary saga was brought to anime in 2012 with the launch of the first season, and over the years it has released four more. In 2017, the first film derived from this universe was screened under the title of Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale. As for Sword Art Online progressiveit’s a new take on the novels that offers a better look at the starting point where it all began: the first floor of Aincrad.

The first production film about the Aincrad arc is told from Asuna’s point of view and reached number one at the weekend box office in theaters in Japan. It was a successful title, as it stayed on the billboard for ten weeks; and the sequel could follow in the same footsteps.

Sword Art Online, the Movie — Progressive — Deep Dark Scherzo will premiere in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Uruguay on March 30. The film will be 100 minutes long and can be seen both in Japanese and dubbed into Latin Spanish.
