There National Land Agency (ANT) announced on Saturday February 18 that it had taken over the property of Los Argonautas, in the Rosary Islands, which was in the possession of an individual on behalf of a contract signed with the nation in 2017. “Jointly, the tenant and the ANT have agreed to terminate the contract 1765-18”, specified the entity.

The director of the ANTGerardo Vega Medina, acknowledged the delivery of the property after inviting the tenants to finalize the contract and hold meetings with several of them.

“We have recovered the first property under this process in Islas de Rosario. We thank a prominent businessman in the country who voluntarily decided to terminate the lease of the Los Argonautas property. We invite other businessmen and people who have these contracts to entrust them with the recovery of these properties for the benefit of the Raizal communities,” Vega Medina explained in his press release.

This action is a consequence after the National Land Agency filed, last week, an action for nullity against 32 lease contracts, joining the group of 10 which had been sued in December 2022, within the framework of the process of wasteland rehabilitation reserved for the Nation of the Archipelago of Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

The request of the national entity is to declare “absolute nullity for illicit purposes, for having been concluded against an express constitutional or legal prohibition, and that, therefore, the immediate termination of said contracts is ordered”.

Another of the intentions of National Land Agency is that an acknowledgment of the reimbursements be made, taking into account paragraph 2 of article 48 of law 80 of 1993, “because the contracts in question did not constitute any advantage which would have served to satisfy a public interest”.
