Mexico City, March 6. The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) fell 0.48% on Monday in its main indicator to settle at 53,924.19 units after a day of mixed results indoors.

“In Mexico, the CPI of the Mexican Stock Exchange lost 0.48% with mixed results inside,” Banco Base analyst Alfredo Sandoval told EFE.

The expert explained that of the 36 issuers in the index, 20 recorded profits, highlighting Coca-Cola FEMSA (+2.88%), Megacable (+2.60%), Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro ( +1.56%) and Walmex (+1.33%) .

“On the other hand, the profits of these broadcasters could not compensate for the losses of the other 16 companies, highlighting those of Grupo México (-3.85%), Operadora de Sites (-2.95%), GCC ( -2.72%), Gruma (-2.68%) and FEMSA (-2.54%)”, specified the analyst.

During the session, the peso depreciated 0.18% against the dollar, trading at 18.01 units for the greenback, after trading at 17.97 on Friday, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.

The CPI closed the session at 53,924.19 units, with a loss of 258.08 points and a negative variation of 0.48% compared to the previous day.

The volume traded on the market reached 178.5 million shares for an amount of 16,370 million pesos (about 909 million dollars).

Of the 547 companies listed that day, 285 ended with a price hike, 234 suffered losses and 28 closed unchanged.

The stocks with the biggest upside move came from home equipment distributor Grupo Famsa (GFAMSA A) with 11.76%; the City Express Hotel chain (HCITY), with 4.61%, and the supermarket chain Chedraui (CHDRAUI B), with 3.67%.

On the other hand, the largest downward variations came from the financial entity Procorp (PROCORP B), with -8.89%; homebuilder Desarrolladora Homex (HOMEX), with -4.17%, and business conglomerate Grupo México (GMEXICO B), with -3.85%.

Over the day, three sectors lost, starting with materials (-1.32%), followed by frequent consumption (-0.27%) and finance (-0.11%) and only industrial won (+0.01%). EFE
