The 6G challenge will burst into the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona (Spain), which is returning to normality after the covid and kicks off this Monday with more than 2,000 exhibitors who will present their innovations, focused on 5G, the metaverse and the industry 4.0.

More than 80,000 people are expected at the Barcelona Fair during these three days, where the main world companies will show their progress and embark on an 18th edition of the congress which resumes the presence of the Asian public, after the stoppage due to the pandemic .

An event under the sign “Velocity”, organized by the GSMA, the association which brings together the world’s telecommunications companies, and which includes five main themes of debate: the acceleration of 5G, virtual reality, open networks (OpenNet ), financial technology (FinTech) and industry 4.0 (the fourth industrial revolution), according to sources from the organizing entity.

Representing industries and markets around the world, MWC will host business and thought leaders related to connectivity and adjacent verticals, including the inventor of the mobile phone, American Martin Cooper.

International visitors have a great weight in this congress, in which one of the unknowns is how many visitors will arrive from Asia, given the fact that they have stopped attending due to covid-19, in a edition in which it is expected that a fourth Part of the participants will come from this Asian continent, according to GSMA sources.

The event brings together the CEOs and presidents of the world’s leading technology companies, as well as delegations from more than a hundred countries.

Emerging companies (startups) return to the show thanks to 4YFN, the Mobile platform focused on this type of company.

The GSMA organizers will present the latest innovations where, for example, one can test his football skills through an interactive demonstration and experience the feeling of presence of his hologram while working remotely.

The benefits of MWC go beyond the value it brings to the global mobile and technology sectors during the event’s annual week-long event, which is expected to generate €350 million in economic benefits and 7 400 part-time jobs.

Including this edition, it is estimated that from 2006 to 2023, the MWC will have generated 5,700 million euros in economic impact and some 150,000 part-time jobs.

The organization expects some 90,000 devices to connect over four days and the Wi-Fi network is ready to support 130,000 connections.
