FX has announced that the second season of the bear (The bear) It will arrive in the middle of this year and the first preview of the new episodes has been released. Jeremy Allen White (Shameless) will reprise her role as Carmy Berzatto, a young culinary promise who has decided to leave everything in New York behind to return to her native Chicago and take over her late brother’s restaurant.
According to the official premise, the series “is about food, family, the craziness of routine, the beauty of a sense of urgency, and abrupt, slippery inconvenience.” As young chef Carmy strives to transform both The Original Beef of Chicagoland and himself, he works alongside a robust kitchen team that ultimately turns out to be his chosen family.
Family grief and failed restaurant
The Original Beef of Chicagoland is a sandwich restaurant – and other dishes – founded by the father of brothers Carmen, Natalie (Abby Elliott) and Michael (Jon Bernthal); but the one who finally dedicated his life to him was the latter, although after his death he left behind debts and countless problems in the business.
the bear begins his story four months after Michael commits suicide and leaves him in the hands of Carmy. Thanks to his experience as a leader, he will try to take the lead of a poorly organized team accustomed to an unprofessional work routine: without positions or tasks established by anyone.
In the midst of this chaos, he will receive the help of a young, inexperienced chef, Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), delighted to change his role as sous chef. Despite being rejected by other workers who are twice her age, she gains the trust and respect of the team until she is seen as Carmy’s right-hand man. Meanwhile, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Michael’s best friend, will continue to be the biggest rock on the road to achieving those goals.
The cast also includes Lionel Boyce as Marcus, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina, Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim, Matty Matheson as Fak, José Cervantes as Angel, Oliver Platt as Cicero, Corey Hendrix as Gary, Richard Esteras as Manny and Chris Wistake as Peter.
The first season of the bear It is divided into eight episodes and was released in June 2022 via Hulu for the United States. Shortly after, it arrived at the Star+ catalog, a platform for streaming which distributes content from the FX network in Latin America. The second batch of chapters will land a year later, in June 2023.
