The Armed Command ambushed Zacatecas police as they headed for the funeral of a murdered element

When elements of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) of zacatecas they were heading towards funeral procession of a companion who had been murdered in the municipality of Loreto the previous days, a an armed group ambushed them and opened fire on them.

The armed attack happened on the morning of this Monday, March 13, when the officers were heading towards the community of La Alquería, where they would shoot the fallen element. When they crossed the community of San Marcos unknown persons began shooting at authorities, according to preliminary information.

The attack was confirmed by the spokesperson for the National Table for the Consolidation of Peace, who ruled out that there have been any injuries so far. Following these events, elements of the preventive state police succeeded in arrest three people and the seizure of various firearms, although the quantity or caliber of these were not detailed. It was unofficially reported that among the detainees were two men and one woman.

“As soon as more data becomes available, it will be reported in a timely manner,” Zacatecan authorities said, so it is not known how many people would have participated in this aggression and the causes for which it would have been generated.

In the local media, it was reported that during these actions the assaulted police officers also managed to insure a van four-door that had a theft report. In this way, both the detained persons and the insured objects were made available to the corresponding authorities to begin the respective investigations.

Zacatecan policeman murder:

It was recorded shortly before midnight on Saturday March 11 in Professor Gregorio Torres Street, located in the Centro neighborhood of the municipality of Loreto. According to the State SSP, the item was in its day off when he was attacked by armed men.

Based on reports to 911, local authorities moved to the targeted location to confirm what happened. Once on this site, they found a seriously injured man due to gunshot wounds (it was later learned that he was an active element of the municipal police).

The officer was immediately transferred to an area hospital for medical treatment. However, after a few moments, his death was announced. For this reason, his funeral procession took place this Monday, March 13, during which his colleagues from the corporation would say their last goodbyes. Until there are no people arrested for this murder.

During the first week of March, there were 12 police officers killed at the national level, according to figures from the organization Causa en Común Although none of them happened in Zacatecas, the state governed by David Monreal Ávila ranked first with the highest number of victims of this crime in 2022, with a total of 60 registered victims.

So far in 2023, in Zacatecan territory at least seven police officers killed, some of whom have lost their lives in the line of duty. This same amount is found in the states of Michoacán and Guerrero.

Guanajuato for its part, is the entity with the most murders of police officers this year, with 17 in total, followed by Chihuahua con 12. In the first three months of 2023, Causa en Común recorded 103 victims throughout the national territory.

This problem has been present since the beginning of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, since December 2018 to date almost 1,921 police officers killed.
