The Russian president gave an interview in which he accused the US of financing NATO and thus destroying Russia. At the same time, Moscow ratified that it will suspend its participation in the nuclear disarmament treaty.

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused NATO members of participating in the conflict in Ukraine by delivering weapons to that country. He also warned that the West wants to destroy Russia and pointed at the United States and Joe Biden’s diplomacy.

Putin accused the US and NATO of a plan to destroy Russia.

A little over a year into the war, in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, there were several moves that generated the escalation of actions, both from Washington and Moscow.

“They are sending Ukraine tens of billions of dollars. This really is participation,” Putin said in an interview with Rossiya-1 channel broadcast Sunday.

“This means that they are taking part, albeit indirectly, in the crimes of the Kiev regime,” he assured. Thus, the Russian president considered that the Western countries have “only one goal: to dissolve the former Soviet Union and its main part, the Russian Federation.”

“Only then perhaps they will accept us into the so-called family of civilized peoples, but only separately, each part separately,” he said.

Nuclear treaty: Russia suspended participation

Russia needs to ensure its security and strategic stability, the Russian president said in the interview, commenting on the decision to suspend his country’s participation in the Start Treaty.

Asked what the United States should understand after the suspension, Putin replied, “It is up to them what to understand. We understand what we should do. And we must preserve our country, ensure security, strategic stability.”

Putin’s response to Biden

Putin was speaking on the sidelines of a patriotic concert held Thursday in Moscow on the eve of the first anniversary of the start of the Russian military offensive in Kiev. In the interview, the leader reiterated his call for achieving a multipolar world and said he had “no doubt” that it would eventually happen.

“Now that (U.S.) attempts to reshape the world in its own way after the fall of the Soviet Union led to this situation, we are obliged to react,” he said.
