Suspected Italian gangster captured in Latin American country thanks to YouTube video

A fugitive allegedly linked to the Italian mafia was located and captured in the Dominican Republic due to cooking videos posted on YouTube.

Italian police said Marc Feren Claude Biart had been fleeing justice since 2014 after a magistrate ordered his arrest for alleged drug trafficking.

Biart is believed to have initially fled to Costa Rica and later moved to the Dominican Republic, where he tried to keep a low profile among the local Italian community.

However, he and his wife posted several videos on YouTube cooking Italian dishes.

Although Biart did not show his face in the images, his tattoos could be seen and thus he was identified by the authorities.

The man was arrested last week in the Dominican Republic and is already in Italy.

The raids took place simultaneously in Barranquilla, Cartagena and Cali, the Prosecutor’s Office detailed.
