For week 1 of the United States – MLS 2023 tournament, Inter Miami proved to be superior and took the three points against a half-hearted rival. The local goals were scored by Serhiy Kryvtsov (40′ 1T) and Shanyder Borgelin (31′ 2T).

Phil Neville’s side created danger with a shot from Ariel Lassiter, at minute 76 of the second leg, which ended up hitting one of the posts.

The best man of the match was Serhiy Kryvtsov. The Inter Miami defender had a good level, scoring 1 goal and clearing 4 dangerous balls.

Shanyder Borgelin also stood out at Lockhart Stadium. The Inter Miami striker scored 1 goal and shot 4 times in the opposite goal.

The match was cut short due to the number of fouls committed by both teams. There was only one card, in the 40th minute of the first half Aaron Herrera received a yellow card.

Inter Miami coach Phil Neville suggested a 4-4-2 formation with Drake Callender in goal; DeAndre Yedlin, Christopher McVey, Serhiy Kryvtsov and Franco Negri on the defensive line; Rodolfo Pizarro, Jean Mota, Gregore and Nicolás Stefanelli in the middle; and Corentin Jean and Josef Martínez in attack.

For their part, Hernán Losada’s side entered the field with a 3-5-2 pattern with James Pantemis under the three sticks; Aaron Herrera, Rudy Camacho and Kamal Miller in defense; Zachary Brault-Guillard, Samuel Piette, Romell Quioto, Victor Wanyama and Lassi Lappalainen in midfield; and Sunusi Ibrahim and Nathan Saliba up front.

Referee Drew Fischer was in charge of overseeing the game at Lockhart Stadium.

On the following date, Inter Miami will face the Philadelphia Union at home, while Montreal will face Austin FC as visitors.
