Peru has been impacted by Cyclone Yaku, with several parts of the country experiencing severe effects such as extreme rains, activation of ravines, landslides, and landslips. Another notable characteristic is the increase in temperature both during the day and night.

The discomfort that people feel in ventilated places or even when going out at night, where the air has a lower temperature, is caused by the Cyclone Yaku. The north wind, which is much warmer than that of the Peruvian capital, moves towards the coast of Lima.

The increased sensation of heat during the presence of Cyclone Yaku occurs because this phenomenon is located off the coast of Peru, carrying the warm and characteristic winds from the north, which generates humidity and leads to the increase in temperature.

It is the southerly winds that allow us to maintain a cooler temperature; however, these are weakened, allowing the north wind that accompanies the Cyclone Yaku increase the temperature. It is also felt at night. The clarification was provided by Noelia Goicochea, Senamhi meteorology specialist in statements to Andina.

– In Ica, values between 33°C are estimated, however, in areas far from the coast they should reach 35°C, while in nearby areas values between 29 and 31°C.

-In Moquegua, a temperature between 28°C and 35°C is expected.
