The Senamhi reported that until Monday 20 February Less precipitation and lower night temperatures are expected in the southern mountainous regions of the country.
The decrease in humidity in the western Andes, caused by the entry of winds from the west of the Pacific and the weakening of the atmospheric circulation ‘Alta de Bolivia’, are the cause of this change in precipitation in this area of the country that has been badly affected by heavy rains and mudslides.
In Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna and southern Puno A decrease in precipitation is expected, in addition to high temperatures during the day, while at night and early in the morning, values below 0°C are expected in localities above 3,500 m altitude.
Meanwhile, in areas of selva such as Madre de Dios, Puno, Cusco, Ucayali, Junín, Pasco, Huánuco, San Martín, Loreto, Amazonas, Cajamarca and Ayacucho are expected heavy to extreme rainfall until this Sunday, February 19, due to the entry of the second cold of the year.
