Los Angeles (USA), 18 Feb. Spanish golfer Jon Rahm came out this Saturday at the Genesis Invitational in Pacific Palisades (California, USA), where he signed a nice -6 card to place himself as the sole leader with a three-stroke advantage over the second.
With 6 birdies and no bogey in the third round, Rahm has a cumulative -15 and has thus overtaken the American Max Homa, leader during the first two days and who is now second with a -12 overall (-2 on Saturday).
Only the American Denny McCarthy (-7) achieved a better record than Rahm this Saturday in the Californian tournament.
The Spaniard is not only looking for his third victory in this magnificent start to the year for him (he has already won the Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express) but also aspires to regain the world number one.
This place in the world ranking is occupied by the American Scottie Scheffler (-5 cumulative, -1 on Saturday) while in second position, and ahead of Rahm third in the ranking, appears the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy (-4 in total, +2 on the third turn).
On the other hand, the Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas accumulates a -1 after a +2 this Saturday while the Argentinian Emiliano Grillo suffered during the third day with a +5 and accumulates a +6 after three sets.
Finally, Tiger Woods has a -3 overall after recovering this Saturday with a solid -4 after Friday’s misstep (+3).
Tiger is playing his first tournament since the British Open last July, after the previous year he only played three events on the entire schedule: the Augusta Masters, the PGA Championship and the aforementioned British Open.
Woods continues to live with ankle pain following a serious road accident suffered in 2021. EFE
