Madrid, 19 Dec. Qatar received 1.4 million visitors during the World Cup that has just ended, as announced by the organizers, and a cumulative attendance at the stadiums of 3.4 million, with an average of 53,000 fans per game and a total occupancy of more than 96%. .
The eight stadiums, located within an hour’s journey from central Doha and easily accessible by metro, bus and taxi, have meant that fans have been able to attend more than one game a day.
The FIFA Fan Festival, the Corniche Activation and other entertainment events brought together more than 530,000 people daily.
“In 2010, we told the world to expect something amazing, and we have delivered on that promise. This has been an incredible edition of the FIFA World Cup, one that will mark a milestone for future organizers,” said Hassan Al Thawadi, president of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
“We are very proud to have hosted a compact, accessible and family-friendly FIFA World Cup. This tournament has provided a platform for cultural exchange on a level never seen in history. Fans everywhere have experienced Arab culture for the first time and Qatari, and have always been in the center of the action, never far from a stadium, accommodation or leisure activity,” added Al Thawadi.
