In the letter, Pyongyang shows its “support and solidarity” with all the steps taken by the Chinese Government to “reject the arbitrariness of the United States, safeguard the territorial integrity of the State and achieve the cause of the reunification of the Chinese nation.”

The North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, also recently defended the friendship between Pyongyang and Beijing, a relationship he has said is “sealed in blood” and that it will continue to develop in the future.

Pelosi landed in Taipei shortly before 11 p.m. on August 2 from Kuala Lumpur, putting an end to a frenzy of speculation, as her visit had not been confirmed despite US and Taiwanese media taking it for granted.

Taiwan, with whom the United States does not maintain official relations, is one of the main sources of conflict between Beijing and Washington, above all because Washington is the main supplier of arms to the island and would be its greatest military ally in the event of a warlike conflict with the Asian giant.
