Metals such as tin, silver, molybdenum, zinc, gold, lead and copper showed low production.

In January of this year, the production of the mining and hydrocarbons sector contracted by 3.61% compared to the same month in 2022, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI)through its technical report Cyclical advance in economic activity.

The result was determined by the decline in metal mining activity in 3.63%, due to the low production volumes tin (-62.5%), silver (-19.9%), molybdenum (-12.4%), zinc (-6.9%), gold (-6.8 %), lead (-6.7%) and copper (-1.6%); however, iron production increased (51.7%).

Also hydrocarbons sub-sector decreased by 3.5% due to lower exploitation of crude oil (-16.7%) and natural gas liquids (-3.3%); offset by the increase in natural gas production (8.2%).

According to preliminary figures, as of February 27, 2023, the production of the electricity sub-sector, in February 2023, it increased by 4.81% due to the greater production of energy of thermoelectric (15.9%) and hydroelectric (1.5%) origin; on the other hand, the production of renewable energies decreased (-17.8%).

Among the main companies that recorded higher production stood out: Engie, Egasa, Kallpa Generation, Chinango, Egemsa, San Gaban, Celepsa, Inland Energy and Enel Generation Peru.

During the first month of the year, the domestic cement consumption it was reduced by 15.12% compared to the level recorded in January 2022, due to the less dynamism of private works and self-construction.

In January of this year, the fishing industry output increased by 32.96% compared to the same month of the previous year, said the HERE.

This behavior was explained by the greater extraction of species of maritime origin (37.27%), with an increase in indirect human consumption (anchovies for fishmeal and fish oil), reaching an extraction of 546,831 tons, compared to 111,127 tons in January 2022, registering an increase of 392.08%, a result that was obtained in the third month of the second fishing season 2022 in the central-north zone of the Peruvian coast.

However, landings have decreased for direct human consumption in 26.34%, that of species intended for the production of preserves (-44.1%) and frozen foods (-36.6%); while the capture of species for the preparation of salting (11.1%) and fresh consumption (3.2%) increased. In addition, fishing of continental origin contracted by 0.22% due to the drop in the extraction of species intended for frozen and cured meats.

In the first month of the year, the consumer credit they stood at S/69,411 million, or 23.56% more than in the same month of the previous year. They also showed enthusiasm mortgage loans which amounted to S/60,546 million, an increase of 7.67%. On the other hand, loans granted to businesses were reduced by 3.70% (S/225,019 million).

On the other hand, the placement of credit cards the commercial bank amounted to 6 million 736 thousand units, a figure 10.77% higher than that recorded in the first month of last year.
