Pope Francisc was admitted this afternoon to the Gemelli Polyclinic hospital in Rome to undergo a scheduled surgery for “a symptomatic diverticular stenosis of the colon,” the Vatican reported.
“This afternoon his Holiness the Pope Francis has gone to the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome where he will undergo scheduled surgery for diverticular stenosis symptoms of the colon”, said the Vatican spokesman, Matteo Bruni, in a brief statement.
The operation, which could take place today although this point is not confirmed, will be carried out by Dr. Sergio Alfieri and at the end a statement will be released on the condition of Francisco, 84 years old.
