“The Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation has approved the provision for the formalization and continuation of the prosecution’s preliminary investigation against former President Pedro Castillo for crimes of aggravated criminal organization, aggravated influence peddling and collusion simple,” the prosecution said on its Twitter account. .

He added that, likewise, the said court had approved the preparatory investigations against the former Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Silva, for the offenses of criminal organization and simple collusion, and against the former Minister of Housing, Geiner Alvarado López, for the offense of criminal organization.

The Peruvian prosecutor’s office on Tuesday formalized the preparatory investigation against former President Pedro Castillo as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of aggravated criminal organization and aggravated influence peddling, and alleged accomplice in the crime of simple collusion.

This preparatory investigation is the preliminary step to an accusation by the prosecution against Castillo, since the former president no longer has the immunity he enjoyed when he handled a case during his presidential mandate.

The prosecution opened the investigation after Congress on February 17 approved the final report of a constitutional complaint against the former president in which it recommended that the prosecutor’s office charge former president Castillo with allegedly leading a criminal organization under his government to obtain money from exchange fraudulent public works tenders.

By 59 votes for, 23 against and 3 abstentions, the chamber gave the green light to the final report of the complaint filed by the national (general) prosecutor’s office against the former president, who is serving 18 months of preventive detention after his self-defeat. cut.

The document recommends indicting Castillo for the alleged commission of crimes against the public peace, in the form of a criminal organization aggravated by his alleged status as a leader, and against the public administration, in the form of aggravated influence peddling, as well as alleged accomplice in the crime against the public administration in the form of collusion.

The case responds to the alleged irregularities found in the works of the Tarata II bridge, in the northern department of San Martín, and in other alleged cases of corruption linked to the public company Petroperú and the Ministry of Housing. ECE
