Lima, 19 Feb. Peruvian territory was affected in the early hours of this Sunday by three earthquakes of moderate magnitude, which were felt in towns in the northern region of Lambayeque, the southern region of Arequipa and the Amazon region of San Martín , reported official sources.
The first telluric movement was reported at 05.05.07 local time (10.05.07 GMT) in Lambayeque and reached a magnitude of 4, with an epicenter 58 kilometers southwest of the coastal town of Pimentel and at a depth of 35 kilometers.
The Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) said the second tremor occurred shortly after, at 05:05:28 local time (10:05:28 GMT), with a magnitude of 4.3 and an epicenter at 23 kilometers north of the Andean district of Chivay. , in the province of Arequipa de Caylloma, and at a depth of 162 kilometers.
At 6:32 a.m. local time (11:32 GMT) another earthquake was felt, which reached a magnitude of 4.4, with an epicenter 63 kilometers north of the Amazon district of Moyobamba, in the neighboring region of Loreto, and at a depth of 27 kilometers.
The IGP added that this earthquake was felt with an intensity of IV in Moyobamba, in the region of San Martín.
The Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) and the National Center for Emergency Operations (COEN) reported the earthquakes, but did not indicate whether personal or property damage was caused.
When these earthquakes are reported, Civil Defense indicates that, through COEN, it coordinates with regional and local authorities, monitors the situation and urges them to always keep their local emergency operations centers active. .
