El Frontón México, an emblematic building inaugurated on May 10, 1929, houses one of the most anticipated exhibitions by the Mexican public and the urban art scene: the impressive work of the Spanish painter Okuda San Miguel.

Okuda has arrived in the Mexican capital with his immersive experience titled “Metamorphosis», an exhibition that fully exploits its unique style in the geometric shapes and bright colors that characterize it. It is a sensory experience in which the artist, born in 1980 in Santander, Spain, lets the viewer enter his mind, in addition to culminating this project with a final intervention.

“Metamorphosis is a word that I have used for a long time because for many years the approach that I have to compose is that of transformation”.

The facade of the Fronton Mexico, Built at the beginning of the 20th century and located in the Plaza de la República, it was intervened by Okuda, with a huge fresco composed of a careful selection of colors, shapes, textures and optical illusions. With this artistic installation, Okuda proposes a proposal that he describes as “an outdoor action with great impact, a immersive exhibition and a new format of artistic work to invite Mexicans to contemplate, be part of and experience a work of art”.

“A great action for cultural change in the heart of Mexico City, in the Plaza de La República, in the Frontón México. A place which becomes a great work of art to house an artistic experience that aims to transform those who live it”.

After two and a half years of hard work, Okuda opened his studio “Factory of Dreams” and then focused on “Metamorphosis”. The artist was setting up this project in collaboration with four studios in Mexico, so all the pieces were made by the hands of mexican artists.

Among the artistic pieces that are part of this exhibition, there are skull house, a huge sculpture unique in the world of 10 meters by 6 in the shape of a skull. In which it is possible to live since it has all the furniture and spaces of a habitable apartment.

Tickets, dates and prices to visit “Metamorphosis”

“Metamorphosis, the Immersive Experience” aims to make you travel in the dreams of the Spanish artist, through colors, lights and sound. The exhibition is divided into two scenes, day and night, which are composed of different artistic expressions such as sculptures, installations, performances with living characters, animated images, video cartography and atmospheres.

Tickets are available on the artist’s official website and at the Fronticket box office. The cost of general admission is 250 pesos plus service charge. And on Wednesdays and Thursdays, they run the 3-for-1 ticket promotion.

The exhibition was inaugurated on February 1 and will remain open to the public until the next March 11Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

the spanish artist Oscar San Miguel Ericebetter known as Okuda San Miguel, or simply Okuda, is considered one of the most internationally acclaimed artists today. It is through his colorful style and his unique iconographic language that he conquered the art world. The painter had the opportunity to express his work in buildings and constructions in more than 80 cities.

From Los Angeles to Beijing via Madrid, the Spaniard has left his mark on contemporary pop art.

Note that the Spanish designer began his artistic career in graffiti in his hometown, like many urban artists, since he first wanted to be a footballer. However, fate had prepared another path for him, when Okuda took to the streets, he was amazed by the urban art that keeps the walls alive, so he decided to focus on art.

His works are easily identifiable by the use he makes of them. geometric structures, multicolored patterns, the materials of all kinds that he uses and above all for the meaning that each of his creations contains.
