The Japanese Coast Guard said the first missile was launched at 07:08 local time (2208 GMT Sunday), citing information provided by the Ministry of Defense, noting that the projectile fell outside the waters of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ). ) Japanese.

Shortly after, he announced the launch of two more missiles at 7:12 a.m. local time (22:12 Sunday GMT) and 7:13 a.m. local time (22:13 Sunday GMT), which both fell outside EEZ waters.

The United States and South Korea conducted joint aerial exercises, including a strategic bomber and a stealth fighter, on Sunday in response to the launch of a North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) the day before.

The Allied action came in response to the launch of a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the second with the longest potential range in its arsenal, by the North on Saturday.

The projectile traveled more than 900 kilometers and reached a peak of more than 5,000 before falling in the waters of Japan’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ), west of the island of Hokkaido.

The Japanese government today convened an emergency meeting team made up of officials from ministries and agencies to gather information on the missiles.
