He recalled that in September 2021, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) advances the case by declaring unconstitutional the criminalization of abortionthat is, the right of women to decide about their bodies without involving the consequences of penal typedecision applicable to the whole country.

It was following the plenary session of the Supreme Court, then under the presidency of Minister Arturo Zaldívar, that declared the invalidity of Article 196 of the Penal Code of the State of Coahuila who proposed to imprison women who had abortions or who helped them to do so.
