Mexico, March 6. Las Rayadas de Monterrey, winners Friday 0-2 against Juárez FC, are at the top of the Clausura 2023 of women’s football in Mexico, in which Pachuca striker Charlyn Corral leads the scorers, after eight days.

Nigeria’s Chinwendu Ihezou scored with her left foot in the 13th minute and Rebeca Bernal scored with her right foot in the 42nd minute from a pass from American Christina Burkenroad to give Monterrey a victory that extended the perfect performance of the ‘crew.

Las Rayadas reached 24 points, two more than Chivas de Guadalajara, winners of Atlas 2-1, on Sunday.

María Pérez gave Atlas the lead in the 39th minute, but Guadalajara reacted in their stadium and took the victory with goals from Gabriela Valenzuela, from the right crossed a pass from Carolina Jaramillo, in the 44th minute, and from Adriana Iturbide, from the right on an assist from Valenzuela.

On Monday, Spain’s Andres Pereira converted a penalty to give America a 2-3 victory at home to Pachuca, sending Spain coach Angel Villacampa’s Azulcremas to third place.

In Pachuca, Natalia Mauleón, Katty Martínez and Andrea Pereira scored for the Águilas and Pachuca scored with goals from Spaniards Jenny Hermoso and Karen Díaz.

Hermoso had nine goals, the same as Kiana Palacios of America, and put one behind top scorer Charlyn Corral with 10 goals.

Pachuca fell to fourth in the table with 18 points, as did champions Tigres UANL, who beat León 4-1 on Sunday with scores from Belén Cruz, Mia Fischel, Maricamen Reyes and Riley Mattingly.

In other Matchday 8 results, on Saturday Cruz Azul drew 1-1 with Querétaro; On Sunday, Puebla beat Mazatlán 1-0 and San Luis drew 0-0 with Tijuana.

This Monday, Santos Laguna beat Necaxa 3-0 and Toluca-Pumas UNAM drew.

The closing will continue with the ninth day from next Friday to Monday.
