MEXICO CITY (AP) — Argentina forward Germán Berterame scored on the hour on Saturday and Monterrey extended their winning streak to seven by beating Necaxa 2-1 to secure first place in Mexico’s Clausura tournament.

Rogelio Funes Mori, a World Cup player for Mexico at Qatar 2022, put Rayados ahead at 60 minutes, but Spaniard Edgar Méndez equalized at 72 and Berterame scored the winning goal at 93.

The “Mellizo”, naturalized of Argentine origin, has reached seven goals with which he remains second among the scorers, only surpassed by Henry Martín, of America, who has nine and one game pending.

Los Rayados accumulate 21 units with which they remain at the top of the championship, where they will remain whatever happens in the continuation of the matches of the eighth day.

The Rayos accumulate seven points and are in eleventh place, which would give them access to the playoffs of the tournament.

Argentina’s Matías Klimowicz put Atlético de Madrid in front after 31 minutes and González tied the game at 56.

With this result, the La Laguna club has nine points and is in ninth position while waiting for the other results of the date.

San Luis has the same crop, but a worse goal difference and comes one place behind Santos.
