One of the buses affected by the accident in which 33 migrants died in Panama

At least 33 people died and more than 20 were injured when a bus carrying migrants fell off a cliff early Wednesday morning in the west Panama.

The largest fire department in the western province of Chiriquí, Edilberto Armuellessaid that in the accident, which occurred at 4:30 a.m. local time (9:30 GMT) on Wednesday, at least 33 people died and 23 others were injured.

According to available information, in the vehicle were 66 migrants in transit who were in shelters in the province of Darién, on the border with Colombia, and were transferred to another in Chiriquí, on the border with Costa Rica .
