Former Uruguayan porn actress who tried to smuggle cocaine to Spain sentenced to three years in prison

Model Mia Etcheverria admitted to being part of a gang that wanted to export drugs to Europe.

Former Uruguayan porn actress Mia Etcheverria was sentenced to two years and seven months in prison after admitting to being part of a gang that wanted to traffic cocaine to Spain, reported Montevideo Portal. The model reached an abbreviated agreement with the prosecution, which allowed her to reduce her sentence.

On June 24, during a routine check at Carrasco airport, police found a possible risk profile. Because of this suspicion, a man was summoned for a search, where they found that his two suitcases had a double bottom inside which there were six sheets of powder cocaine. In total there were 6.5 kilos of white substance that this passenger wanted to take to Madrid.

In addition to the sentence, Etcheverría’s cell phone was seized and the car was confiscated, sources from the Public Prosecutor’s Office told Infobae.

The man was not alone and what caught the most attention was that he was accompanied by the former porn actress, known in the media for her work in Divas TV and her relationship with former Nacional and Uruguayan national team player Richard ‘Chengue’ Morales.

Mía Etcheverría’s Changing Defense: From Innocence to Involvement in Cocaine Smuggling Plot

The first defense of Mia Etcheverria -whose real name is Camila Navarro- was that she had no plans to travel with those suitcases to Spain and that she did not know the contents. Her lawyer Pablo Casas declared in the program Algo Contigo that the role the model had played in the trip was to help the 29-year-old man to buy the tickets and to accompany him to the airport.

However, later it became known the chats that Etcheverria kept through Telegram with the one who was going to travel, which evidenced her participation in the organization. The plans began at least two weeks before the flight, when Etcheverria was giving advice to passengers on how to go unnoticed at the airport.

The dialogue was with one of the Madrid-bound ticket holders, who at the time of travel would carry the suitcase that hid the cocaine. “It is your attitude that will determine your trip, do you understand? Travel listening to music,” he advised in one of the messages published by Montevideo Portal.

“When you get off the plane, take pictures of yourselves (but not uploading anything) until you get to your destination. As touristy as possible, trust me,” Etcheverria sent in another text.

Passengers were concerned about the size of the suitcases and asked the model to send photos so they could get organized with the clothes, but the model was slow to comply. “The only thing I tell you and so that there is no doubt, both my wife and I are calm in everything to travel. But if we don’t see before the suitcases we are taking with us, we won’t travel”, warned the man in another of the messages.

Etcheverria replied: “Fine, I won’t take out the reservations and that’s it”. But finally the model sent the photos of the two suitcases that were later seized by the police.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged Etcheverria as co-perpetrator of the crime of attempted export of narcotic substances. The former porn actress participated in the preparation and final phase of the export of the drug. She was remanded in custody in a women’s prison.

The man who delivered the cocaine to the former porn actress was convicted in August after acknowledging the crime of attempted export of narcotic substances. The conviction was for three and a half years of effective imprisonment and the sentence was the result of an abbreviated agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, which implies a lesser sentence.

His role was focused on the organization to take the drugs out of the country. For this reason, he was not part of the group that went to the airport at the time of traveling.
