Mexico reported 832 new deaths from coronavirus covid-19 in the last 24 hours to accumulate a total of 179,797 deaths, the Ministry of Health reported this Saturday.
In addition, 7,785 new positive cases were reported for a total of 2,038,276 confirmed infections.

With these figures, Mexico ranks thirteenth in the world in the number of infections and third with the most deaths from the pandemic, behind the United States and Brazil, according to the US Johns Hopkins University.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Mexico, 5.2 million patients have been studied, with a positivity of 32%, informed Christian Arturo Zaragoza Jiménez, director of epidemiological information of the General Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health.
In addition, he said, there are 1,590,696 people who are considered recovered.
He reported that the number of estimated cases is 3,174,138 when considering those who await the result of the test. Among them, there are 56,533 estimated active cases, that is, they have presented symptoms in the last two weeks.
To this day there is an average occupation of 35% of general beds in Mexican hospitals that care for patients with covid-19, among which Mexico City stands out with 60% occupation, the highest and so far there is no entities that reach 70% hospitalization.
While only Mexico City has 65% occupancy in beds with a fan, and nationwide the occupancy in this area is 38 percent.
VACCINATION PLAN
At the conference, Dr. José Luis Alomía reported that 1,656,304 vaccines against covid-19 have been applied so far, but only 445,418 people have received the two necessary doses of the Pfizer vaccine to achieve immunity.
He indicated that in the last week there has been progress in the vaccination strategy thanks to the application of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
Mexico began on Monday the second phase of the vaccination plan with the immunization of adults over 60 years of age with AstraZeneca vaccines, when the vaccination of medical personnel with the Pfizer doses has not yet concluded.
The country, with 126 million inhabitants, has committed 34.4 million doses of the American Pfizer, 79.4 of the British AstraZeneca, 35 of the Chinese CanSino, 24 of the Russian Sputnik V, 10 of the Chinese Sinovac and 51 , 4 of the COVAX platform of the World Health Organization (WHO).
